Classic Florence with focus on Michelangelo

This version of Classic Florence includes a specific focus on Michelangelo. In fact, after visiting the Accademia to admire the David, you will walk to Santa Croce where the tomb of Michelangelo is sitting. Santa Croce is a Franciscan Basilica that was designed at the end of the thirteenth century by Arnolfo di Cambio; it hosts great masterpieces of art such as Giotto’s frescoes but above all it is considered the “Temple of Italian Glories” because, in addition to Michelangelo, figures such as Galileo Galilei, Machiavelli, Gioacchino Rossini, Ugo Foscolo and others are buried there.
During the tour we talk about the artist’s beginnings and the relationship he had with our city and with the Medici until he left Florence for Rome where he spent the last 30 years of his life and died there.
