Classic Florence – Palazzo and Giardino Corsini al Prato

Your private guide will pick you up at the hotel to take you to Corsini al Prato Palace and Garden. The owners commissioned Gherardo Silvani to put the finishing touches to the villa and to the garden. The Italian Garden that was laid out at that time remains unchanged to this day. The garden is divided into two parts by a central avenue, lined with statues on plinths that decrease in size to create an impression of greater depth. The area to either side of the space has regularly-shaped flower beds bordered by box hedges, with terracotta basins containing citrus trees. For many years the villa was the summer residence of the Corsini, and in 1834 it became the permanent home of Neri Corsini di Laiatico and his wife Eleonora Rinuccini. Many famous guests have been staying at the villa, including Frederick IV of Denmark, the Prince of Wales Charles Edward, Queen Victoria and Margaret of Savoy.
