Today on your half day private walking tour your guide will begin the tour at Florence’s Piazza del Duomo, with the Cathedral which was built in the gothic architecture of the Middle Ages. It is a masterpiece of the time, along with its dome made by Brunelleschi, and its bell tower by Giotto!
We then continue through the narrow city center streets, where we will see ancient tower houses where the Florentines lived in these times. Including seeing the exterior of one of the greatest writers of the age Dante Alighieri who lived right in the heart of Florence. Walking through town down to the main piazza of Florence, where the Palazzo Vecchio is located.
We will visit inside the Palazzo Vecchio (Florence’s town hall), which was once an imposing medieval fortress, and houses the magnificent apartments that belonged to the grand Ducal Family, we will see the monumental Hall of the Five Hundred (Salone dei Cinquecento), once featured in Dan Brown’s novel & movie, and the extraordinary room of the Geographic Papers.
