Tour overview

Giardino Torrigiani*

Your private guide will pick you up at the hotel to take you to the private gardens of the Torrigiani Marquises family: it is the largest garden within the city walls, after the Boboli Gardens, and corresponds to the aesthetic and philosophical ideal of the English garden.

The visit is beautiful in any season but we do not recommend it in the months of July and August for obvious reasons. The Marquis Vanni Torrigiani takes care of the Garden and he is the one who accompanies visiting customers, in fact he is not only the owner but also the gardener.

NB it remains a little outside the historic center so we must provide a van which at that point can be used to see other things outside the normal tour such as Piazzale Michelangelo and the Church of San Miniato al Monte.

Palazzo and Giardino Corsini al Prato*

Your private guide will pick you up at the hotel to take you to Corsini al Prato Palace and Garden. The owners commissioned Gherardo Silvani to put the finishing touches to the villa and to the garden. The Italian Garden that was laid out at that time remains unchanged to this day. The garden is divided into two parts by a central avenue, lined with statues on plinths that decrease in size to create an impression of greater depth.

The area to either side of the space has regularly-shaped flower beds bordered by box hedges, with terracotta basins containing citrus trees. For many years the villa was the summer residence of the Corsini, and in 1834 it became the permanent home of Neri Corsini di Laiatico and his wife Eleonora Rinuccini.

Many famous guests have been staying at the villa, including Frederick IV of Denmark, the Prince of Wales Charles Edward, Queen Victoria and Margaret of Savoy.

Private Palace*

City residence of a Marquis, the building is Renaissance and still belongs to them. The history of the family is rich in events and fascinating characters, the palace is beautiful. Today, as then, the family produce wines and oil.

You can ask for a special private opening of the palace and you are accompanied on a visit by one of the family members and have a visit to the palace with the Marquises and a wine tasting in the palace cellars. The tasting is very scenic and the wines are excellent.

* A double ride by taxi or driver might be necessary to reach the place, depending on your hotel’s location. APPROXIMATE LENGTH: 3 hrs

NOTE: The venues for these tours are really exclusive and will be opened to public only on request. In addition, you have the possibility of combining the three options to your liking. However, the combinations must then be reconfirmed, due to the exclusivity of these tours and opening days.
